Temporary IT Programmer (Part-Time) - A (Remote)

Tecknomic is searching for Temporary IT Programmer professionals for a potential upcoming short-term project with the Maryland State Department of Education's Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs (OSCNP). This is a temporary, part-time, remote position with Tecknomic and the project is with the MSDE. This role could become available in early April 2025. Contract duration is up to 10 months with no plan for extension.

Please note that candidates may need to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination, if offered the role.

Hours and Location

  • Work location will be remote work.
  • Candidates must currently have work authorization (there is no visa sponsorship for this role). 
  • Work must be performed within the Unites States of America (working from outside the USA is not allowed).
  • Up to 20 hours of work each week is expected.
  • Work hours will be determined during hire but will be expected to be between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM to correspond with normal State business hours.

Interview:

  • If selected, interviews will be both virtual and in-person (2 interviews).

Additional Details:

  • There will be weekly meetings with MSDE stakeholders.


The ideal candidate must possess the following:

Mandatory Requirements:

A. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology related field. 
B. 5 years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining applications and programs using C# within a .net framework. 
C. Experience with MySQL, Writing and optimizing SQL queries, Integrating databases with applications. Developing and implementing database stored procedures and functions 
D. It is preferred that the person is Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) certified.

Responsibilities: 

Job Duty 1: Code Analysis and Review • Analyze code to identify any issues, inefficiencies, and/or areas of improvement. • Evaluate the code for readability, maintainability, and performance. 

Job Duty 2: Debugging and Troubleshooting • Diagnose and resolve bugs within the code. • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand the problem areas and provide solutions. 

Job Duty 3: Code Optimization • Identify opportunities to optimize the code to improve scalability, and performance. •

Job Duty 4: Documentation • Document code analysis, findings, and any changes being made to the code.  

• Create technical documentation of recommended solutions. 

Job Duty 5: Coding and implementing • Push code to the testing environment, verify intended functionality • Modify code to comply with OSCNP, from existing specifications


Required Skills: 

Experience with: 

▪ .Net ▪ JSON ▪ WEB API ▪ MySQL ▪ Azure DevOps 
▪ Hands-on experience with ASP.NET and MySQL Databases. 
▪ Good Knowledge of Data mapping / Data transformation
